The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) announced that it has cleared 20 lakh SIR cases from a total of 33 lakh notices issued to voters across the city—an effort that began after the August 31 release of the draft rolls for 70 assembly constituencies.
The notices were sent to voters whose details were flagged for logical discrepancies or whose records were missing from the 2002 electoral rolls. The campaign, launched in early September, has seen 217,391 voters file Form‑6 to become eligible electors, while 47 lakh names were removed from the draft list for errors in name, age, or other details.
Special camps will run on October 18 and 25, with booth‑level officers (BLOs) and election officials on the ground to address SIR cases in real time. The CEO said, "We had started a proactive campaign to resolve these issues, and so far around 20 lakh cases out of 33 lakh have been resolved."
The claims and objections phase will continue until October 30, with a final disposal scheduled for November 30. After that, the updated voter list is set to be published on December 4, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll.
The CEO also urged voters to contact any of the 14,947 BLOs, 902 AEROs, 70 EROs, 13 DEOs, or the CEO office itself for any grievances, promising a streamlined process for those who submit Form‑6 with the required documents.
