Iran's IRGC Calls on US Voters to Oust Trump Allies Ahead of November Elections

The 26‑page letter, released Tuesday, calls on American voters to unseat Donald Trump’s allies in Congress and rejects U.S. backing for Israel and foreign military interventions. Yet only 17% of respondents in a September 21 Reuters/Ipsos poll approved of Trump’s handling of the cost of living, the top issue for voters.

The withdrawal from Iraq, scheduled for Wednesday, marks the end of a 23‑year presence that began after the 2003 invasion toppled Saddam Hussein. It was cemented in a 2024 agreement with former President Joe Biden.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, via spokesperson Majed al‑Ansari, said Doha was working to broker a deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz after a brief pause in fighting. The UN General Assembly in New York last week saw Iran propose a seven‑day countdown, but the U.S. rejected the plan.

Trump reiterated that Iran must not acquire a nuclear weapon and that the war would soon end. He said, “I don’t know if they’re going to give up yet, but they’ll give up. They’re doing very poorly.”

The letter arrives weeks before the November 3 election that will decide whether Democrats regain both chambers of Congress, potentially curbing Trump’s agenda.
