Streamer Charged After Livestreaming Gunfire at Alligator in Florida Everglades
Braden Eric Peters, a livestreamer known as Clavicular, was charged on April 29 with unlawfully discharging a firearm in a public place after a video broadcast on airboat in the Francis Taylor Everglades Wildlife Management Area showed him firing at an alligator. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office filed the charge, classifying it as a first-degree misdemeanor under Florida law, with a court hearing scheduled for May 20. Peters faces up to one year in jail, one year of probation, and a $1,000 fine if convicted; his bond has been set at $1,000.
The incident occurred during a livestream in which Peters and two others, including fellow streamer Cuban Tarzan, stopped their airboat near the animal and opened fire. Audio from the stream captured Peters asking whether they should shoot the alligator to determine if it was alive, before gunfire erupted. Officials confirmed the shooting took place in a state-managed wildlife area, where discharging firearms is restricted.
Peters' legal team stated he was acting under the direction of a licensed airboat guide and that no people or animals were harmed. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed it investigated the video. While two others were present, only Peters has been formally charged so far. The court will resume proceedings on May 20.
