CPI, CPI(M), VCK Stage Demonstration in Salem Against Union Government

The Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) staged a demonstration before the State Bank of India at Fort in Salem, Tamil Nadu, on Thursday, as part of a State-wide protest against the Union Government. The parties demanded the reduction of commercial gas cylinder prices and the revocation of the decision to cut vacancies in the railways.
The demonstration saw the participation of CPI district secretary A. Mohan, CPI(M) district secretary A. Ramamoorthy, and other functionaries, who raised slogans against the Union Government. They alleged that the price hike of commercial gas cylinders has affected the poor and the middle-class, and that the reduction in crude oil prices has not been passed on to consumers, benefiting only oil companies.
The protesters also criticized the Indian Railways' plan to cut two percent of sanctioned posts, which they claim will destroy the dreams of youths. They called for the immediate revocation of this decision.
The demonstration is part of a broader protest against the Union Government's policies, with the parties demanding action on issues affecting the common people. The next steps in the protest are expected to be announced by the parties in the coming days, with the possibility of further demonstrations and actions planned.
