L&T’s shares ticked up 0.4% as the company announced it has won up to ₹10,000 crore in new Dhaka Metro contracts, the biggest infrastructure order in its history.
The order, split between CP09 – Track Works & Electrical Systems – and CP10 – Signalling, Telecom and Platform Screen Doors, covers the 31‑km underground Line 1, with 19 stations and a depot at Pitalganj.
L&T’s Senior Vice President Ramkumar S said the partnership with Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation will handle design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the track, power supply and signalling systems.
This follows the company’s earlier delivery of the integrated railway systems package for Dhaka Metro Line 6, which is now in commercial operation, adding a proven track record to the new contract.
In the broader Indian infrastructure sector, JICA‑funded projects are booming; L&T’s win positions it among the top bidders for Southeast Asian metro projects, potentially boosting its 2026 revenue by 8‑10%.
The market is looking ahead: L&T will publish Q2 results on Tuesday, after which analysts will assess whether the new contracts translate into a 12‑15% quarterly revenue lift and a 5‑7% EPS uptick.
