Karnataka Government Appoints Retired Judge as Chairperson of Admission Overseeing Committee

The Karnataka government has appointed retired Karnataka High Court judge Ramachandra D. Huddar as chairperson of the Admission Overseeing Committee for professional courses. Judge Huddar's appointment fills the vacancy created by the end of Judge B. Manohar's term in October 2024.
The Admission Overseeing Committee is one of two committees that regulate admission and fees in professional educational institutions in Karnataka, as per the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee) Act, 2006.
The committee's functions had been affected due to the absence of a chairperson, with the Fee Regulatory Committee addressing other student issues, including fees, for the past two years.
The Karnataka government's appointment of Judge Huddar is expected to restore the normal functioning of the Admission Overseeing Committee. The committee will now be able to monitor admissions to professional courses, and the Fee Regulatory Committee can focus on its core function of determining fees.
