Most A-listers hoard their gold. Craig doesn't. In a candid admission to Saga Magazine back in 2020, he called the act of passing down substantial wealth to the next generation "distasteful." He repeated the sentiment in 2021, citing the American industrialist Andrew Carnegie as his moral compass. "Isn't there an old adage that if you die a rich person, you've failed?" Craig asked. His philosophy is simple: get rid of it or give it away before you go.
This isn't just lip service. In October 2024, Craig put his personal collection to work, auctioning two limited-edition Triumph motorcycles inspired by his final Bond film, No Time to Die. The Scrambler 1200 and Tiger 900 Bond Editions, both signed by the actor, were sold via Bonhams to benefit the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The Scrambler went for £28,000, and the Tiger fetched £32,000, raising a combined £60,000 for the charity's 200th anniversary.
Craig's connection to the RNLI is personal. He grew up in Hoylake, England, near a lifeboat station, and has visited crews to see their rescue operations firsthand. But his charitable reach extends far beyond the UK coast. In 2015, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed him the organization's first Global Advocate for the Elimination of Mines and Explosive Hazards.
During his eight-year tenure, which concluded in April 2023, Craig helped raise more than $1 million for mine-action programs. A major 2019 initiative with the United Nations Foundation and Omaze generated $1.2 million alone, supporting efforts in Cambodia, Bosnia, Mali, and Nigeria. He also championed the 'Safe Ground' campaign, pushing for cleared land to be used for community activities and sports.
Craig has two daughters: Ella, born in 1992, and a younger daughter born in 2018 to his wife, Rachel Weisz. He has kept their lives largely private, but his public stance on wealth suggests a family ethos focused on impact rather than accumulation. If you die rich, Craig's view is, you've failed. It's a blunt take, but given his track record, he's not just talking the talk.
