Rahul Gandhi posted an X thread on Friday, calling out Delhi Police after an independent journalist claimed a senior officer groped and pushed her while covering the detention of AISA activist Neha Bora at a Jantar Mantar protest.
The journalist, who posted a video message to CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, said she had been harassed by officer Vivek Bhagat and had waited more than three hours inside Parliament Street Police Station for an FIR.
Hundreds of journalists rallied outside the station, chanting “No harassment” and waving placards that read “Delhi Police, we demand an FIR.”
CJP co‑convener Ashutosh Ranka said the protest “is a response to the police’s repeated mistreatment of women and journalists.”
A police officer responded to a reporter, confirming the complaint had been logged and that an independent probe would follow.
Gandhi singled out Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding the minister answer and urging the ministry to order a swift investigation, while Delhi Police say the matter remains under review.
The next day, the Home Ministry is slated to issue a statement and the police will file an FIR, with the inquiry to be overseen by a senior officer from the Central Bureau of Investigation.
