TVK Threatens Mass Resignation If DMK, AIADMK Form Government

The TVK, led by actor Vijay, has announced that it will resign en masse if either the DMK or AIADMK try to form a government in Tamil Nadu, citing suspicions of collusion between the two parties. The party, which won 108 seats in the recent election, argues that it should be invited to form a government as the single-largest party.
The Governor of Tamil Nadu, RV Arlekar, has refused to allow Vijay to stake a claim to form a government, citing a lack of sufficient numbers. The TVK needs 10 more seats to reach the majority mark and is currently in talks with the Congress, Left, and smaller parties to secure the necessary support.
The DMK, led by MK Stalin, has held a meeting in which it passed a resolution authorizing Stalin to take emergency decisions. The party has stated that its primary aim is to avert another election and establish a stable government.
The TVK's threat of mass resignation has raised tensions in the state, with the party insisting that it will not back down if its demands are not met. The Governor's office has stated that the requisite majority support for forming a government has not been established, and the TVK will need to provide letters of support from 118 legislators to stake a claim.
The immediate next steps will involve further negotiations between the TVK and other parties, as well as potential discussions between the Governor and party leaders. The DMK has asked its MLAs to remain in Chennai, citing the need for a stable government and the risk of communal forces exploiting the situation.
