Shares of VA Tech Wabag (VABAG) surged 8.4% to ₹1,851.3 by 11:55 a.m. after the company announced a ₹1,000 crore order from Reliance Industries to build a desalination and remineralisation plant in Jamnagar.
The order, classified as a "mega" project, will be executed over 25 months and includes a 8,400 m³/hr desalination unit expandable to 12,600 m³/hr. The plant will feature reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and chemical dosing systems, while the remineralisation unit will house limestone filters and CO₂ storage.
This win follows a September order for a medium‑sized effluent treatment plant worth ₹120 crore, indicating a steady build‑up of the company’s domestic pipeline.
After eight straight days of decline, the 8% lift takes VABAG to a year‑to‑date gain of 39.98%, although it remains 25.9% below its 52‑week high of ₹2,319. Analysts note that the order adds significant depth to the firm’s portfolio.
The company has not yet issued guidance for the next quarter, but its order book suggests continued upside. Investors will watch the upcoming earnings release on Nov 15 for signs of sustained momentum.
