West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Monday that the state government has approved the transfer of land to the BSF for fencing the border with Bangladesh. The process of transferring land will start immediately and is expected to be completed within 45 days.
The Cabinet meeting also approved the implementation of the Centre's flagship Ayushman Bharat health scheme and several other schemes of the Union government in the state.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a proposal for a five-year extension in the age limit of school job applicants, as promised by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the poll campaign.
The Cabinet also decided to implement the criminal law in the state, alleging that the previous government had ignored the June 2025 Census circular from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Chief Secretary has been empowered to take steps to initiate central government training for officers under the national and State cadres.
The immediate next steps will involve the initiation of the land transfer process and the implementation of the approved schemes, with the state government expected to provide further updates on the progress of these initiatives in the coming days.
