Contract labourer Vishal Singh was arrested after attempting to sexually harass a 10‑year‑old girl inside a Shiva temple in Pune’s Nigdi area on Oct. 10 at 11:07 a.m., according to Pune police.
The clip, which went viral on social media, shows Singh entering after the girl finished praying, wearing an orange construction jacket, grabbing her hand and attempting to molest her.
The video sparked outrage across Pune, with locals demanding swift action and calling for increased security at the temple.
Pune Police Senior Inspector Mahesh Bansode said the Nigdi police detained Singh immediately after identifying him on the footage, and a case was registered under the POCSO Act.
The court is expected to hear the case next month, while temple authorities plan to review and upgrade security measures to prevent a repeat.
