Pradeep Purnekar is dead. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, serving as the Thane 'vibhag pramukh' or division head, succumbed to severe gunshot wounds after unidentified assailants attacked him near the jurisdiction of the Kapurbawdi police station around 9 pm on Tuesday. Police confirmed that Purnekar was rushed to Infinity Hospital near R Mall on Ghodbunder Road, where medical staff attempted emergency intervention, but he did not survive the injuries.
