APGDA Urges Health Minister to Appoint DME from Eligible Candidates

The Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors’ Association (APGDA) submitted a representation to Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Thursday, May 7, 2026, urging him to appoint one of six eligible candidates as Director of Medical Education (DME). The eligible candidates are currently serving as Additional Directors of Medical Education (ADME) and have completed the required two years in the post.
The APGDA stated that the government had not appointed DMEs based on seniority in the past and requested the Minister to follow the National Medical Commission (NMC) norms and uphold the dignity of senior serving doctors in the state.
The association's move comes as the DME position remains vacant, and the appointment is expected to bring stability to the medical education sector in Andhra Pradesh.
The Health Minister's office is expected to review the representation and make a decision on the appointment in the coming days. The court or relevant authorities are not involved in this matter, but the Health Minister will likely respond to the APGDA's request soon.
