The Lokayukta Police have arrested Mariyappa Shivappa Madivala, the secretary of Kolur Gram Panchayat, Nagaraj Gavishiddappa Badiger, a bill collector, and Maruti Mudiyappa Mainalli, a daily wage employee, for accepting a ₹75,000 bribe to issue panchayat khata records and Form Nos 9 and 11 related to a converted land. The accused were identified and caught while accepting the bribe amount on Wednesday, following a complaint filed by 65-year-old M. Gnaneshwarayya, a retired gram panchayat secretary.
The complainant had approached the Lokayukta Police on May 5, after being asked to pay the bribe amount by the accused, for processing panchayat khata records and issuing Form Nos 9 and 11 in respect of an eight-gunta agricultural land situated in Dadegal village in Koppal taluk.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Siddaraju C. and under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Lokesh, with Police Inspector Chandrappa as the investigating officer.
The court will likely hear the case in the coming days, with further investigations to be conducted by the Lokayukta Police.
