Apollo Hospitals inaugurated a Centre of Excellence for Sports Injuries & Orthopaedics at its Financial District facility in Hyderabad on Friday. The center was launched by Anil Kamineni, founder of KEI Group, Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the Telangana Sports Department, and members of the Sunrisers Hyderabad cricket team.
The facility brings together a multi-disciplinary team of orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, and rehabilitation experts to provide advanced diagnostics, treatment, and recovery programs. Harkaran Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Hospitals, said the center is designed to ensure faster recovery and improved clinical outcomes for both elite athletes and general patients.
Jayesh Ranjan praised the initiative, noting the high injury risk among fast bowlers, and announced plans to propose a formal agreement between the Telangana Olympic Association and Apollo Hospitals. SRH captain Pat Cummins, speaking from personal experience with back injuries and stress fractures, emphasized the critical role of specialized medical infrastructure in sustaining professional athletic careers.
The center will begin clinical operations immediately, with Apollo Hospitals coordinating with state sports bodies to expand access for athletes across disciplines. The Telangana government is expected to review the proposed partnership within the next four weeks.
