The Poddar Group, an Assam-based hospitality group, on Thursday unveiled a ₹800-crore expansion roadmap to develop 10 properties across multiple states in India within a decade. According to the group's chairman, Anup Poddar, the success of their 'premium budget hotel' in Alipurduar, which serves as a strategic overnight halt for tourists and corporate executives traveling to and from Bhutan, has been instrumental in their decision to expand nationwide.
The group's expansion plan includes developing properties in multiple states, with a luxury hotel in Sikkim's capital, Gangtok, being developed in partnership with the Hyatt group.
The Poddar Group is pursuing a hybrid model, whereby they build assets, operate on leased properties, or offer management services to owners of properties, especially in non-metros.
The group's focus has been on 'meaningful dining' with curated dishes that blend local flavors with global tastes, with celebrity chef Vicky Ratnani crafting the Palacio signature menu.
The Poddar Group's expansion plan is expected to create new opportunities in the hospitality sector, with the group's chairman stating that they are committed to providing high-quality services to their customers. The group will begin implementing their expansion plan immediately, with the first properties expected to be completed within the next few years.
