Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, on Friday said only the Congress party can defeat the BJP, calling it a battle of ideologies between the RSS's 'ideology of hatred and partition' and the Congress's 'ideology of love and unity'. He made the statement while participating in the 'Sadbhav Yatra' in Haryana, a march aimed at promoting harmony and countering the BJP's 'propagated hatred'.
The event, which was marked by a show of unity in the faction-ridden Haryana unit, saw Gandhi criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of attacking the democratic system and Ambedkar's Constitution.
Gandhi also targeted Modi over a deal with the United States, claiming it would harm Indian farmers and jeopardize the agriculture sector. He cited two reasons for the deal, including the 'Epstein File' and a pending U.S. criminal case against businessman Gautam Adani.
The 'Sadbhav Yatra', which began last October, has covered 2,700 km and 85 Assembly constituencies, promoting issues such as electoral malpractice, unemployment, and farmers' distress.
The Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narender Singh and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who had earlier dismissed the padayatra, congratulated Brijendra Singh for the initiative, boosting his standing in the State unit. The Congress party is expected to continue its efforts to counter the BJP's influence in Haryana, with further actions and announcements expected in the coming days.
