KL Rahul First Batter to Score 1,000 IPL Runs for Three Franchises

KL Rahul became the first player in IPL history to score over 1,000 runs for three different teams, reaching the milestone for Delhi Capitals during their match against Kolkata Knight Riders. He also became the fastest to 1,000 runs for DC, achieving the mark in 23 innings.

KL Rahul made history during Delhi Capitals' IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, becoming the first batter to score more than 1,000 runs for three different franchises in the tournament. He reached the milestone playing for Delhi, adding to his tallies of 2,548 runs for Punjab Kings and 1,410 for Lucknow Super Giants.

Rahul was dismissed for 23 off 18 balls in the sixth over, caught by Cameron Green off Kartik Tyagi's slower delivery. Despite the early exit, he simultaneously became the quickest batter to reach 1,000 runs for Delhi Capitals, achieving the feat in 23 innings—12 fewer than the previous record held by JP Duminy and Rishabh Pant.

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and elected to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders, who retained their playing XI. Delhi brought in Mukesh Kumar and Vipraj Nigam, replacing T Natarajan and Karun Nair.
