SEBI has ordered brokers to show investor awareness messages on their sites and apps by Oct. 31, with a staged rollout that will require all platforms to display them on landing pages from Nov. 1.
Under Project Jagrook, the regulator issued a circular on Oct. 1, setting interim deadlines of Oct. 5‑31 for websites and a voluntary period for apps.
The new rule expands on the May 2023 order that only risk disclosures were mandatory, giving brokers the choice to add awareness content.
Brokerage firms now face new compliance costs and potential redesign of interfaces. Analysts warn that the mandatory display could affect user experience and trading volume.
SEBI will monitor compliance and may adjust the creatives periodically. Brokers are expected to file compliance reports by Dec. 31.
