The flag‑hoisting ceremony at Garden Pier, meant to launch the Games, was delayed 20 minutes and then stalled for more than an hour after a communication glitch between the Olympic Council and the organising committee.
Yadav downplayed blame, insisting the priority is to keep the athletes comfortable so they can concentrate on winning medals, saying the focus must remain on performance, not logistics.
With the opening ceremony set for Saturday, Manu Bhaker and Tajinderpal Singh Toor will carry the flag, but the team first needs to secure accommodation before they can step onto the field.
