On Tuesday, the Saudi‑led coalition announced that its air defence units shot down and destroyed three unmanned aerial vehicles north of Riyadh.
The drones were reportedly launched from Yemen, as part of the ongoing conflict that pits Saudi‑backed forces against the Houthi movement.
Major General Turki al‑Maliki, the coalition’s spokesman, posted the confirmation on X, noting the interception as a "successful counter‑measure."
In response, Riyadh's air‑defence network was placed on high alert, and Saudi officials said they would review the incident to assess potential escalation.
