Prime Minister Narendra Modi said West Bengal is in a "deep pit" and claimed elections there are unlike any other in India, as he addressed a large rally in Jamnagar on Sunday. He asserted the BJP is the only party capable of restoring the state's dignity, citing the alleged sacrifice of more than 300 party workers.
Modi highlighted Gujarat's industrial achievements, stating the state leads in semiconductor manufacturing, metro coach production, and aerospace, and now hosts India's first dedicated Ministry for Climate Change. He emphasized that four generations in Gujarat have supported the BJP, framing the state as a model of development and stability.
The Prime Minister linked his visit to historical milestones, noting May 10 as the anniversary of the 1857 uprising and announcing plans to visit Somnath to honor the temple's reconstruction. He invoked Sardar Patel and Dr. Rajendra Prasad, underscoring the role of past leaders and sacrifices in shaping modern India.
The remarks are seen as part of the BJP's national campaign strategy ahead of upcoming state elections. The party will intensify its outreach in West Bengal in the coming weeks, with senior leaders scheduled to hold roadshows and public meetings.
