Three alleged shooters were detained by the Rajasthan Anti‑Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police at Kota railway station on Monday, having fled Mumbai after the Sunday evening attack on actor Tiger Shroff.
The suspects, who boarded the Pune‑Jaipur Express in Surat, were intercepted while traveling toward Rajasthan. Their capture followed a tip from a cab driver who called the number used to book his ride, enabling investigators to trace the trio’s movements.
The assault, filmed by a bystander, saw gunmen firing at close range from a vehicle outside a football club in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Shroff, 36, escaped with minor injuries; his driver sustained cuts.
Mumbai Police had provisionally assigned a bodyguard team to Shroff after the incident, as the actor had previously had no security detail. The Protection Branch deployed officers to his residence and workplace.
Investigators now aim to probe the suspects’ links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the source of the weapons used, and the alleged shelter and funding networks. Mumbai Crime Branch has requested custody of the accused pending further inquiry.
The joint operation, launched after technical surveillance traced the cab driver, underscores the impact of ordinary citizens on law‑enforcement.
Police expect to file formal charges within the week, with a preliminary hearing set for next Friday.
