Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos sat in a parked car near the White House with three firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition, telling officers that voices in his head had ordered him to kill President Donald Trump. The US Secret Service moved quickly on Thursday night after spotting the Venezuelan national behaving suspiciously, according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement. He is now in the custody of the US Marshals Service.
The vehicle, which authorities identified as stolen, yielded the weapons during a search. DHS records showed Chrinos entered the US through Texas in March 2024 and has been living in the country illegally. His claim of auditory hallucinations directing the plot adds a layer of psychological complexity to what investigators will treat as a serious security threat.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin issued a stark statement, praising the Secret Service for intercepting the "illegal alien with three firearms in his vehicle" before he could cause harm. The White House did not issue a separate comment, directing media inquiries to DHS and the Secret Service. This arrest caps a turbulent period for the administration, which has faced multiple threats against Trump and his family since his return to office last year.
