The ACB Special Court in Kurnool on Friday sentenced retired Assistant Engineer Bandaru Chinna Pullaiah to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment for accepting a ₹20,000 bribe. The bribe was accepted in October 2018, while Chinna Pullaiah was serving as Assistant Engineer in Amadagur mandal of Anantapur district.
The accused had allegedly demanded ₹30,000 for processing bills related to a CC road laid by the complainant, initially accepting ₹10,000 and later demanding the remaining amount.
The ACB Special Court also imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh, which will be paid to the complainant as compensation, according to ACB officials.
The court's decision comes after Chinna Pullaiah's retirement from service in 2020. The case will now be considered closed, with the sentence having been handed down and the fine imposed. The authorities will ensure that the fine is paid to the complainant as directed by the court.
