Chittoor district police have deployed 600 personnel to ensure law and order during the annual Gangamma Jatara festival, scheduled to peak on May 12 and 13, 2026. The deployment is part of a comprehensive security and traffic management plan to handle large crowds of devotees converging on the town.
Deputy Superintendent of Police J. Venkatanarayana said the force has established five check-posts, 14 pickets, Rakshak patrol teams, and Blue Colt mobile units operating 24/7. Drone surveillance and CCTV monitoring are active at key locations including temple premises, major junctions, and designated mandapams across Greamspet, Kongareddypalli, Kattamanchi, and other areas.
An Integrated Police Control Room has been set up at the Gandhi Bomma Centre to coordinate inter-departmental responses and disseminate public advisories via a centralized public address system. Traffic restrictions are in place, banning heavy vehicles and private cars at key junctions to prevent congestion. Devotees are advised to use designated parking and remain vigilant about personal belongings and children.
The police will maintain round-the-clock vigilance throughout the festival period, with special focus on processions and immersion activities on May 12 and 13.
