Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the BJP's first West Bengal Chief Minister, inducting five ministers in the state cabinet, including Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul, Nisith Pramanik, Kshudiram Tudu, and Ashok Kirtania. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, among other top dignitaries.
The five ministers bring a mix of experience and new perspectives to the cabinet, with Dilip Ghosh being a veteran BJP leader and former state party president, and Agnimitra Paul being a fashion designer-turned-politician who joined the BJP in 2019.
Agnimitra Paul is the only woman minister in the BJP's Bengal cabinet so far, having won from the Asansol Dakshin Assembly constituency in the recently held elections.
The immediate outlook is that the new cabinet will begin its work, with the Chief Minister and ministers expected to hold their first meeting soon to discuss the state's priorities and agenda. The state assembly is expected to convene shortly to facilitate the swearing-in of the remaining ministers and the commencement of the new government's work.
