Annamayya District Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma on Friday ordered municipal officials to accelerate infrastructure projects and strengthen drinking water management in Madanapalle to meet rising summer demand. He emphasized that resolving water shortages in all habitations must be the top priority.
During a review of civic services, officials reported that 14 borewells in Ramarao Colony, Reddys Colony, Maruthi Nagar, and the Weekly Market area had dried up due to falling groundwater levels. Seven new borewells are currently being drilled and will be made operational immediately, with plans for additional wells in vulnerable zones.
Sharma also directed regular water quality testing, strict monitoring of sanitation worker attendance, protection of municipal parks from encroachments, and intensified ward-wise campaigns for property tax and water charge collection. The municipal administration will submit a progress report on the water supply measures by next week.
