A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against Bhagirath Sai, 25, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in Hyderabad. The case was filed by the Pet Basheerabad police based on allegations made by the family of a minor girl.
Bhagirath Sai has filed a counter-complaint in Karimnagar alleging extortion and blackmail attempts by the girl's family. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has strongly rejected the allegations and accused opposition parties of targeting him because they cannot face him politically.
The controversy has sparked protests by the opposition BRS, with women activists surrounding the Pet Basheerabad police station and demanding the immediate arrest of Bhagirath Sai. BRS leaders have accused Bandi Sanjay of trying to shield his son and alleged collusion between the BJP and Congress governments.
The case is expected to remain at the centre of Telangana's political discourse in the coming days, with the BJP facing pressure to act. The court will likely hear the case in the coming weeks, and the Union Minister's response will be closely watched.
