Adani Agri Fresh Limited (AAFL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, will begin cherry procurement in Himachal Pradesh during the upcoming season, marking its entry into the stone fruit category. The company has upgraded controlled atmosphere storage facilities across six locations in the state to support cherry storage and distribution.
AAFL has been a major organised buyer of apples in Himachal Pradesh since 2006, procuring over 300,000 metric tonnes from more than 17,000 farmers and disbursing approximately Rs 1,500 crore in direct payments. It currently holds a 25,000 metric tonne cumulative storage capacity in the state and sources about 4% of HP's apple production.
The company uses a standardised grading and sorting system to ensure transparent price discovery based on quality, reducing reliance on traditional mandis and improving returns for growers. It is also expanding its Digital Mandi platform, which allows farmers to sell produce remotely, to new regions in the state.
Manish Agarwal, Business Head of AAFL, announced the expansion at 'Fruit Horizon 2026: Globalizing India's Fruit Value Chain', an event organised by ICAR and state authorities. The company plans to gradually include peaches and plums in its procurement portfolio.
The Digital Mandi initiative will be scaled further ahead of the next fruit season, with additional farmer enrolment and technology integration planned in the coming months.
