Parents Group Flags 41% Failure Rate in Telugu in Andhra Pradesh Class 10 Exams
The Parents Association of Andhra Pradesh (PAAP) has called for immediate reforms in the state's education system after data from the 2026 Class 10 board exams showed that 37,679 out of 91,150 failed students did not pass in Telugu, their first language, amounting to 41.3% of total failures. In contrast, only 8,771 students failed in English and 1,436 in Hindi, highlighting a sharp disparity in language performance across the board.
PAAP president S. Narahari stated that 54,272 students failed in Science and 39,722 in Mathematics, indicating widespread challenges in core subjects. He emphasized that students in Telugu-medium schools require additional teaching hours and better resources to improve learning outcomes.
Narahari urged the state government and Education Department to modernize Telugu language instruction and strengthen foundational education. The association has recommended an official review, with expectations of a government response in the coming weeks.
