YSRCP Demands Vigilance Over Electoral Rolls Revision to Stem Voter Deletion Fears
Andhra Pradesh's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has called for heightened vigilance during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to prevent large-scale voter deletions, citing precedents in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu where similar exercises led to significant voter removals.
Addressing party leaders via Zoom on Wednesday, Reddy urged Assembly Constituency coordinators to ensure technical expertise in the SIR process and monitor ground-level developments. He emphasized training for Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and coordination with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) amid anticipated pressure on election staff. A control room will be established at the party's central office, accompanied by orientation programs to enhance preparedness.
Reddy also reviewed upcoming statewide programs focusing on farmers' issues, hospital visits, and Aarogyasri scheme concerns. He stressed the need for coordinated media outreach to amplify the party's welfare initiatives.
The control room and training programs represent immediate steps to mitigate risks identified during the SIR process. Official responses from the Election Commission regarding potential deletions have not been reported yet.
