The Greater Chennai Corporation removed a temporary election-related stage from M.G.R Nagar on Thursday after it remained erected on K.K. Salai for weeks following the end of polling. Residents had filed a complaint stating the structure, positioned in front of a hardware shop, was abandoned and posed an encroachment hazard.
Civic officials responded to the public complaint and dismantled the stage, clearing the encroachment. The GCC confirmed the removal operation later the same day.
The corporation stated it would monitor public spaces for similar leftover structures and take preventive action ahead of future election cycles. No fines or penalties were announced against the responsible political group.
