Aman Sehrawat snatched 57kg freestyle gold on Saturday, outpacing DPR Korea's Han Chong Song 11‑7, after a dramatic comeback from a 6‑7 deficit.
Seharwat had already secured bronze at Hangzhou 2022. He opened the second half with a flurry, pushing the score to 6‑1 in his favor.
But Han countered, scoring six consecutive points to top 7‑6. A quick takedown by Sehrawat earned him four points, restoring the edge.
Sehrawat told reporters, "When I pinned him, the crowd erupted. That moment turned everything." Coach Raghav Singh added, "His resilience is what defines Indian wrestling."
India now boasts two freestyle golds, with Sujeet Kalkal also triumphing in 65kg. The win boosts morale for the rest of the Games and keeps India in medal contention.
