The Delhi Chief Election Officer confirmed that the CM’s name will still appear in the final Shalimar Bagh roll, slated for publication on November 4.
Other prominent figures, including AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, former Union minister Kapil Sibal and former BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, also received notices for being "unmapped" with the last SIR or for missing records from the 2002 revision. Kejriwal’s family—his wife Sunita, parents and son—were cited for the same mapping issue, while Sachdeva’s notice cited a name mismatch.
The SIR exercise, which began on June 30 and will conclude with a claims and objections phase on September 30, aims to clean up the electoral roll by flagging over 33.13 lakh voters whose details do not match the previous revision. Voters who receive notices must submit required documents and replies to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of their assembly constituency by October 29.
The Delhi CEO office clarified that notices are issued under the claims and objection phase mandated by the Election Commission of India. It added that high‑profile names flagged in the database are now included in the draft rolls to allow for timely verification of documents.
A resident of Shalimar Bagh, who has been waiting for his name to appear correctly in the roll, expressed frustration at the delays but hopes the October 29 deadline will allow for a smooth correction process. The final voter list, including Rekha Gupta’s validated entry, will be released on November 4, after which the Election Commission will enforce the updated roll across the city.
