The Indian rupee edged up 16 paise to 95.73 against the U.S. dollar on Friday, a lift from its two‑month low of 95.89 set on Thursday.
The rally came as global crude prices slipped below the $104‑per‑barrel threshold, with Brent futures trading at $103.85, a reversal from the sharp rise earlier in the week that had pressured the currency.
U.S. Treasury yields eased after the Federal Reserve raised policy rates by 25 basis points, curbing dollar strength and further lifting the rupee.
While domestic indices saw modest gains—Sensex up 122.18 points to 74,436.77 and Nifty up 23.55 points to 23,294.15—foreign institutional investors continued to sell, netting outflows of ₹3,208.76 crore on Thursday, a pressure that could temper future gains.
Analysts say the rupee may hold near 95.73 ahead of next week’s monetary policy review, though persistent outflows could test its resilience.
