Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh has directed banks operating in the region to strengthen their response systems and coordination with law enforcement, following nearly ₹104 crore in cyber fraud losses reported in 2026. The directive came during a coordination meeting on May 8 with representatives from public and private sector banks, including HDFC, SBI, ICICI, and Axis Bank, aimed at tackling delays in fraud investigations and fund recovery.
Police officials highlighted persistent delays in obtaining critical banking data such as account statements, KYC details, and freeze confirmations, hampering real-time response. DCP Cyber Crimes T. Sai Manohar stressed the need for timely information sharing, while Telangana Cyber Security Bureau SP Sai Sri called for dedicated Cybercrime Response Desks in all banks and updated nodal officer contacts to ensure uninterrupted coordination.
Banks were instructed to train branch staff on cyber fraud protocols, maintain backup personnel for nodal roles, and provide relationship manager details for corporate accounts to expedite investigations. The police emphasized that improved cooperation would enhance fund freezing, accelerate case resolution, and strengthen customer safeguards.
The court will resume hearing on Tuesday.
