Nida Khan, Accused in TCS Religious Conversion and Harassment Case, Arrested in Maharashtra

Nida Khan, a central accused in the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik 'conversion' and sexual harassment case, was arrested Thursday in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. Police said Khan, wanted in Crime Register No. 156/26 at Devlali Camp Police Station, was taken into custody following a joint operation by the Nashik Special Investigation Team (SIT), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police Commissionerate, and Crime Branch.
Khan was located at a flat in the Kaiser Colony area of Naregaon, where she had been staying with family members. Authorities had surveilled the location for two days before the arrest. She was produced before a Judicial Magistrate First Class at the judge's residence and granted transit remand under Section 43(5) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). She has been moved to Nashik for questioning.
Khan, a process associate at TCS since December 2021, was suspended on April 9 after being taken into custody. A company letter stated her access to internal systems had been revoked and she was unable to perform duties. TCS clarified she was not an HR manager or involved in recruitment, countering public perception. The company also confirmed it had not received any formal complaints through internal channels related to the case.
The case emerged when a female employee alleged colleague Danish Sheikh, Khan's brother, deceived her into a physical relationship by falsely promising marriage. Police allege Khan made derogatory remarks about the woman's religion and pressured her to convert. She and Tausif Akhtar are accused of hiding Sheikh's existing marriage. The investigation expanded after seven more women reported harassment, leading to the arrest of seven TCS employees, including the HR head.
The Nashik SIT is continuing its investigation, and Khan will remain in police custody for questioning. The court has scheduled further remand proceedings for the coming days.
