Delhi Traffic Police released a comprehensive diversion plan on Thursday, Oct. 9, warning that 30 key junctions would be affected from 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gears up for a protest in Jantar Mantar.
The advisory names Shankar Road, Dhaula Kuan Flyover, Jhandewalan, Mandi House, and 25 other points, including the Outer Circle at Connaught Place and the Ring Road near San Martin Marg. Each location has a dedicated detour route to keep traffic flowing.
Additional CP (Traffic) DK Gupta told reporters that the police will adjust the diversion plans in real time depending on ground conditions. "We will keep the public updated through our website and social media," he said.
In parallel, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will restrict entry and exit at 45 stations from 9 p.m. on Friday until 6 p.m. on Saturday, a move aimed at preventing large crowds from reaching the protest site.
For commuters, the city urges early departure and extra travel time. A local taxi driver, Sameer Kumar, said he will skip the usual route through Jantar Mantar and instead pick up passengers from the outskirts to avoid the congestion.
The traffic plan is live on the Delhi Traffic Police website and can be followed on X, Instagram, and Facebook. The public is encouraged to stay updated as the situation evolves.
