West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will chair his first cabinet meeting on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Nabanna, the state's administrative headquarters in Kolkata. The meeting will include the allocation of portfolios to five ministers sworn in on May 9, 2026, alongside the likely establishment of inquiry commissions into alleged atrocities against women during the Trinamool Congress regime.
Adhikari will also hold three administrative meetings at Nabanna on the same day, meeting senior state officials, district magistrates, and top police leadership. Attendees will include West Bengal's Director General of Police, Kolkata Police Commissioner Ajay Nand, and other senior zone-level officers. Security arrangements were reviewed Sunday by Kolkata and Howrah police commissioners.
Following his swearing-in, Adhikari stated his government's priority is rebuilding West Bengal, citing damage to culture and education under the previous administration. Retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta has been appointed advisor to the CM, while Shantanu Bala (IAS) has been named private secretary.
The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms on May 10 ordered the transfer of 10 bureaucrats, with nine reassigned to the Chief Minister's Office. Among them is Surjit Roy, the returning officer for the Bhabanipur seat, where Adhikari defeated former CM Mamata Banerjee by 15,115 votes.
The cabinet will meet again later this week to finalize departmental assignments and review law and order across the state.
