Vijay's TVK Seeks Support from AMMK MLA Amid Governor's Majority Stalemate

Actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has reached out to Kamaraj S, the sole MLA of TTV Dhinakaran's Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), to secure support for government formation in Tamil Nadu. The move comes after Governor RV Arlekar rejected TVK's initial claim to form the government, citing lack of confirmed majority support despite the party winning 108 of 234 Assembly seats.
TVK has also received backing from the Congress, adding five MLAs to its tally, and is in negotiations with DMK allies including the VCK and Left parties. VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan confirmed that a high-level committee will meet to decide on support, while Left parties are convening separately. Outgoing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has allowed allied parties to make independent decisions, prioritizing stability and preventing a re-election.
Vijay met Governor Arlekar twice to stake claim, offering to face a floor test, but the Governor insisted on demonstrating majority support before administering the oath. The constitutional impasse continues as TVK asserts it will achieve the required 118 seats by securing additional backing. The Governor has not set a deadline, but party sources say a resolution is expected within 24 hours.
