The Juvenile Justice Board in Anantapur ordered three juveniles to be detained at a government observation home for six months after they confessed to assisting the accused in a 2024 rape case registered at Chilamathur police station in Sri Sathya Sai district. The order was issued Friday during a special hearing before Principal Magistrate R. Harika, where the minors were produced and found involved under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The board directed authorities to transfer the trio to the Government Special Observation Home for Boys in Tirupati, where they are expected to arrive Saturday. Deputy Superintendent of Police K.V. Mahesh confirmed the juveniles were found guilty of supporting the main accused in the crime. The case was investigated by then Chilamathur Sub-Inspector Munir Ahmed, who filed the chargesheet.
The placement follows standard procedure under the Juvenile Justice Act for minors found involved in serious offences. Authorities in Tirupati will oversee their stay and rehabilitation during the mandated period.
