Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on May 11, 2026, stated the state government's commitment to transforming Uttar Pradesh into India's 'Deep Tech Capital', marking National Technology Day with a public message on technological self-reliance and development. He cited the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests, the flight of the Hans-3 aircraft, and the Trishul missile test as foundational moments in India's technological journey.
Adityanath highlighted the use of technology in governance, including Direct Benefit Transfers and online self-enumeration, and noted the state's investments in AI, robotics, data centre clusters, and the 'Tech Yuva-Samarth Yuva' training scheme. He referenced Uttar Pradesh's role in manufacturing BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and its growing startup ecosystem in drones, quantum technology, green hydrogen, and med-tech.
The Chief Minister credited astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, a native of the state, as an inspiration for youth and urged them to adopt innovation as a means of national progress. He described technology as inseparable from time, stating that not advancing with it equates to falling behind.
Adityanath linked the push for technological advancement to a tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under whose leadership the 1998 nuclear tests were conducted. The government will continue expanding tech infrastructure and youth training programs, with updates expected at the upcoming state technology summit on June 5, 2026.
