Iran Deputy Foreign Minister Expected in New Delhi for BRICS Meeting
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister is expected to travel to New Delhi to participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting scheduled for May 14-15. The visit comes as India chairs the grouping this year, overseeing a bloc that recently expanded to include Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The mission was reported by news agency ANI, citing sources within the Iranian government. The meeting serves as a high-level coordination platform for member states to discuss geopolitical challenges and economic cooperation ahead of the annual summit.
While the Iranian official's attendance is anticipated, an official confirmation from the Ministry of External Affairs remains pending. The visit would mark a continued engagement between Tehran and New Delhi within the multilateral framework of the BRICS alliance.
The two-day foreign ministers' meeting will commence on Tuesday in the national capital. The Indian government is expected to release the final list of attendees and the formal agenda in the coming days.
