The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) announced that former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar would be a guest at its annual Vijayadashmi event in Nagpur on 20 October 2024. The ceremony will be held at the Reshimbagh Ground and marks the conclusion of the organisation's centenary year.
Sanjay Gupta, editor‑in‑chief of Dainik Jagran, is slated to be the chief guest, while RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to deliver the keynote address. In addition, Yaniv Revach, Israel’s Consul‑General for the Midwest India region, has also been invited.
The invitation drew criticism from the Congress. General‑Secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on X that Dhankhar’s house allotment, which he is entitled to as a former vice‑president, remains pending despite the invitation.
The Vijayadashmi celebration, traditionally a major gathering for the RSS, is expected to attract thousands of volunteers and supporters. The centenary milestone underscores the organisation’s growth from its 1925 founding to a nationwide volunteer movement.
