West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of development for all was the guiding principle for the new BJP government in the state. Adhikari made the statement while attending an organisational meeting at the BJP office in Salt Lake, Kolkata, where he was greeted by hundreds of people and presented with 207 lotuses, signifying the number of seats the BJP won in the Assembly polls.
Adhikari visited the BJP office along with the party's State unit chief Samik Bhattacharya, and before leaving his residence, told reporters that the new government had lots of responsibilities and had to work for the people.
The BJP office in Salt Lake was decorated with flowers, and a portrait of Jan Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and an image of 'Bharat Mata' were prominently displayed.
The Chief Minister's statement was made amid chants of 'Jai Shri Ram' at the party office, where several BJP MLAs and party leaders were present. The state government is expected to outline its development plans and policies in the coming days, with Adhikari's statement indicating the direction the government will take.
