The Srisailam Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple Trust Board will conduct a series of religious and cultural events on May 11 to observe 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv', temple officials confirmed Thursday. The observance marks 1,000 years since the attack on the Somnath temple and 75 years since its reconstruction, as part of a nationwide initiative by the Union Ministry of Culture.
A 'Kalasa Yatra' will begin at 7 a.m. from Gangadhara Mandapam, passing through Nandi Mandapam, Mallikarjuna Sadan, and the Bayalu Veerabhadra Swamy temple before returning. Devotees will receive booklets to write the 'Panchakshari Mantra', while national-level programmes will be screened on an LED screen at the Gangadhara Mandapam from 10 a.m.
Evening events include 'Siva Bhajans' and devotional music starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by a spiritual discourse on the significance of 'Omkaram' at 6:30 p.m. and chanting of the 'Omkara Mantra'. A performance of the 'Perini Sivathandavam' dance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The programmes are being organized in compliance with instructions from the Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department. Temple authorities Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu and M. Srinivasa Rao urged devotees to attend and participate in the events.
The observance will take place on May 11 at the Srisailam temple in Andhra Pradesh, with temple administration overseeing coordination and security.
