Pakistan pulled off a stunning 4‑wicket victory over England in the fourth ODI of the tri‑series, the win coming after an 89‑run stand between Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf.
Shadab Khan finished on 113 from 96 balls, his first ODI century, while Rauf added a steady 7. Together they forged the highest 10th‑wicket partnership in a successful chase, eclipsing the 64‑run stand of Deryck Murray and Andy Roberts from 1975.
The match had looked all but over when England’s bowlers had reduced Pakistan to 154 for 9 early in the chase, needing 88 more to win. Shadab’s boundary in nearly every over kept the pressure on, and Rauf’s deft defence turned the ball in Pakistan’s favour. Their partnership turned the tide, allowing Pakistan to cross the 242‑run target with four wickets to spare.
The victory lifts Pakistan into the tri‑series final, while England, already gaunt after two defeats, will have to regroup. Earlier in the series, Shaheen Shah Afridi’s four wickets had kept England to 241, but the batting collapse in the second half of the game proved decisive.
Pakistan now heads to the final against Sri Lanka on Thursday, where they will look to cement their place at the top of the standings.
