Abishek Porel has been reinstated into Bengal’s senior men’s squad after bail, set to face Assam at ACA Stadium in Guwahati.
Porel, who plays for Delhi Capitals, last appeared in four IPL 2026 matches before his arrest on 11 August. The court granted him bail on 18 September, clearing him to rejoin the state side after more than a month in jail.
CAB announced the squad on Tuesday, naming Sudip Chatterjee as captain. The decision came just over a week after the High Court’s order, sparking debate among fans and pundits about player conduct and the sport’s moral compass.
With a 16‑man roster, Bengal will use the practice matches as a warm‑up for the Ranji Trophy, and Porel’s inclusion adds a sharp wicket‑keeper option that could prove decisive in the coming season.
The team departs Kolkata on 30 September, returns on 6 October, and the Ranji campaign kicks off immediately after, with Bengal looking to capitalize on this surprising roster shuffle.
